Pre-Owned Games Fail

Yesterday, I went to “Play-N-Trade” to check out a pre-owned title.  My wife and I love playing action/adventure games together, but it’s hard to find one for two-players.  Especially one that we like.  The last game we played together was “Champions of Norrath“.

As we were browsing the Playstation Store, I downloaded the trial version of Diablo III:

So, I’m trying to get on a good diet.  It’s been hard.  My hardest trial?  Driving my Panda Express and not stopping.  Let me explain.  I love chinese.  I mean… I REALLY do.  Chicken with breading upon breading, and soaked in sauce with rice that has been fried again and again.  What’s not to like?

Well, the calories for one.  My normal plate is a 2-entree plate with Orange Chicken, Mandarin Chicken, and fried rice, for 1250 calories.  For you Weight Watcher’s fans, that’s 33 points! That’s half my caloric intake for just lunch, and enough salt to dehydrate a farm of slugs.  Not to mention the fat and carbs. Since weight watcher’s includes fat, carbs, etc, that is pretty much someone’s entire point count (and even taps into weekly points).

But, there is one thing that Panda Express does, that’s pretty cool.  You can build your own plate online, and determine your best nutritional value for your money and taste buds.  Look, Panda Express isn’t a fool.  They know we are getting smarter about how we eat.  So, they are trying to help….. or, kinda.

Better than nothing, anyway.

Reality Check: Social Networking Sites

Recently, some trouble has been stirred with my actions on Facebook. In an effort to save this person (and myself) the embarrassment, I will keep it anonymous.

Everyone has differing opinions and perspectives. I believe social networking sites like Facebook, or MySpace are merely news applications from friends, groups, and favorite businesses in order to stay in touch or see the daily updates in their lives.

There is another perspective that people have. Some see these sites as a personal extension of their lives. They have such a passion, they feel it is less than an application, and more of a personal attachment.

I’m not saying this is wrong, as that would be judgemental, and I’m trying not to be. But it is my opinion, that bad things can (and do) happen with this perspective. The reason for this thinking is that status updates, like other news items, may not always be entirely accurate. Exaggerations, vague updates, and even manipulating words can confuse and change peoples minds. Bad language and hurtful remarks can result.

For example, recently, someone on my friends list in Facebook was posting updates that I would rather not see or read. Just like a news site in my online reader, if you don’t like it, you simply remove it. Unfortunately, removing someone from your friends list has the unfortunate side-effect, to those that see FB as more than an applcation, to be representative of removing them from their personal lives.

This couldn’t be further from the truth. This problem was the cause of differences of opinions on what social networking sites really are……Web applications displaying news.

In hindsight, I could have just asked that person to stop. But, then, who am I to change that person? Maybe I’m the only one? I certainly don’t want to think my parenting skills are better than others (their not, believe me). And then, who am I to say that the parents are wrong? These are just opinions, and I respect people and their parents too much.

Social networking sites are most definately useful, but can be dangerous if you lose too much of yourself in these virtual realities. Preying abusers, stalkers, and criminals also browse the sites. Putting too much of yourself and your trust on these public applications can be risky.

I’m Tweet’ing!

Okay, so I’m definately behind the times, but I’m just now getting into the Twitter things.

If you would like to follow my tweets, then you can either choose the “Follow My Tweets” button on the right side of my blog, or click here to go to my Twitter Page.

Cheers!

So, I’m heading to work today, and had a Starbucks fix!  I check my clock, and it says that I’m heading early to work.  Great!  I can stop by Starbucks!

I pull off the exit, and pull into Starbucks.  Wow… looks like there is alot of people in drive thru.

I drive into the drive-thru lane, and waited….and waited….and waited…

Holy crap!  I’m going to be late to work.  I’d better go ahead and leave.   Wait… how do I get out of here?  It’s only one lane.  On the one side, I’ve got grass, a speakerphone for ordering, and a menu.  On the other side, I have a big curb, plants, and flora.

Don’t let that fool you guys!  Starbucks designed that for a reason!  Once you pull in, there isn’t an easy way of leaving…. you might as well order and wait!

Rant Apology

I wanted to send a quick apology for the post I left earlier, regarding backstabbing.

No, no one saw it, and made me feel guilty.  I felt my own remorse.  Pretty much after I posted, I felt it, but I let it go.  Well, a whole day has gone, and I still feel bad.

Are the feelings still there?  You bet.  But it’s not worth demolishing another human being.  This person does have his good points, no doubt.  Everyone does.  Even people you hate the most, has SOMETHING good about them, I’m sure.  Usually, you have such negative feelings, you don’t want to think of the good things.  That’s just human nature.

Am I lesser person by posting that rant?  I don’t think so.  I’m just like everyone else.  I do, however, feel I’ve let myself down, since I try to think of the good in people.

Anyway, I will still try and post my feelings and behaviors…. I just hope I’m more “balanced” and justified.

This morning’s post was just filled with 100% emotion.

New Blog!

Posted: March 12, 2008 in Ramblings

I was starting my personal blog on MySpace.  Well, there were problems with it.  Most, of which, was because MySpace does not support a standard blog protocol, and I couldn’t post using my favorite blog editor.  You have to sign-in to post a blog entry.

For one, I like to write my posts, even when offline.  Can’t do that with MySpace.  Plus, MySpace is getting too cluttered, and too, ummm… well… busy.  It’s hard to explain, but needless to say, I’m not using it anymore.

So, here is my personal page where I will post everything not related to my work.  Directly, anyway.  Of course, indirectly, work affects us all.

Hope you enjoy!!

Cheers!
